We’ve got some very, very exciting news to announce here at the Admiral’s Inn.
A beloved and long-running Ogunquit eatery that closed its doors last year is reopening—and it’s reopening right here at The Admiral’s Inn!
Amore Restaurant & Café
We’re talking about Amore Restaurant and Café, a name probably familiar to longtime Ogunquit visitors. Leanne Cusimano founded Café Amore, the establishment’s first incarnation, back in 1994, and for two decades it wowed locals and out-of-towners both with some of the finest breakfast and brunch on the New England coast. And it all came presented—as the nod to its owner’s Italian heritage that’s memorialized in the restaurant name suggests—with a profound “food is love” philosophy.
Like countless Amore fans from near and far, we were mighty sad to see this fixture of the Ogunquit dining scene decide to call it quits in 2016. Not that Leanne and the rest of the crew didn’t deserve to rest on their laurels after more than a quarter-century in the restaurant business. But, honestly, we selfishly missed the cuisine: the Banana Foster French Toast, the Corn Beef Hash, the Amore Benedict—not to mention those perfectly mixed Bloody Marys and Mimosas…
Meanwhile, all of those dedicated Amore patrons were grieving alongside us, and lamenting the loss of their favorite breakfast/brunch spot.
Amore & the Admiral’s Inn: A Match Made in Heaven
We certainly didn’t feel as if Ogunquit was quite the same without Amore Restaurant & Café,. Then inspiration struck: We realized we had a space under renovation—part of the original Inn—that would make a perfect home for a reboot. To our great pleasure, Amore accepted the offer, and we’re ecstatic to say the next chapter for this Ogunquit institution kicks off in April 2018 with Amore Restaurant & Café’s grand reopening!
Tried-and-true Amore favorites are coming back, like their famous hash and a galaxy of omelet combos, alongside new offerings—among them more gluten-free options and brunch-friendly libations, plus yet-to-be-revealed surprises. Once again you’ll get to enjoy the delicious Amore Breakfast Blend from West Coast Coffee Roasters: the perfect way to start your day, especially when it’s paired with a laden platter from the Amore kitchen!
We can’t wait for you to check out the new perch for Amore Restaurant & Café, which’ll sport a fetching retro look and a whole lot of that trademark “food is love” warmth so many Ogunquit eaters know so well. We’ll keep you posted on progress and update you on the specific opening date, but meanwhile start getting excited for next spring—and start working up an appetite!
