Hotel for Christmas by the Sea in Ogunquit, ME

It’s time once again for Ogunquit’s signature Yuletide bonanza: Christmas by the Sea! The Admiral’s Inn makes a fabulous home base for taking in this weekend of wonderment, smack dab as we are in the heart of the village.

One of Ogunquit’s best-known community events, Christmas by the Sea will be marking its very impressive 31st year this December 8ththrough 10th. From Main Street down to Perkin’s Cove, the celebration extends all across town, and the events, activities, and spectacles run the gamut!

A Christmas by the Sea Overview

There’ll be music to spare: the Wells High School Select A Capella concert at Ogunquit Baptist Church Friday evening at 7 PM, the Seacoast Men of Harmony barbershop choir at the church the next night, followed up at 8 PM at MaineStreet Nightclub with Christmas classics performed by Levi Kreis on his Home for the Holidays Tour—and plenty of caroling as well!

On Friday night, you can enjoy hot drinks and holiday cheer at a double-header of holiday tree lightings at Perkins Cove (7 PM) and Veterans Park (8:15 PM).

Arts-and-crafts shows and bazaars offer the opportunity to get some holiday shopping done, Ogunquit-style. There’ll also be plenty of wining and dining going on: from the local eats at the Dunaway Center’s TASTE THE SEASON on Saturday (from 11 AM to 1:30 PM) and wine tastings at Perkins & Perkins Wine & Cheese Shop (Saturday, 1 to 3 PM) and the Village Food Market (Saturday, 2 to 5 PM) to Sunday morning’s Pancake Breakfast and Pajama Party at the Fire Station.

There’s much to engage the younger crowd at Ogunquit’s Christmas by the Sea, first and foremost a cameo appearance by Santa on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 AM at the Fire Station. (He arrives by fire engine, mind you.) Up in Wells that day there’ll also be old-fashioned crafts and gift-making going down at the Meetinghouse Museum’s “History Games & DIY Gifts for Families” activity from 10 AM to 1 PM.

At the heart of the Christmas by the Sea proceedings are the Ogunquit Ocean Rescue Polar Plunge, bonfire, and fireworks at Main Beach on Saturday evening.
