OgunquitFest 2016

Looking for a weekend that distills Ogunquit’s autumn magic into one fun-filled package? Well, you’re in luck: OgunquitFest is barreling down the calendar, and we’d love to host you for it here at the Admiral’s Inn!

OgunquitFest is one of the town’s best-loved traditions, held at the height of the fall-foliage season and incorporating a whole lot of Halloween-y spirit. This year’s festival (the 13th) falls October 21st through the 23rd, and it’ll permeate the whole village! Time to book your accommodations at the Admiral’s Inn so you’ve got total access to this irresistible all-ages jamboree.

A Packed-to-the-Gills Schedule

There’s no shortage of things to do at OgunquitFest, which transforms our town into an all-out fall funhouse. Evening ghost tours show off Ogunquit’s supernatural side, horse-drawn wagons give delightful rides, scarecrows greet you at every turn (and vie for your vote in the festival’s scarecrow contest), a scavenger hunt sends participants all over the place, and opportunities abound for pumpkin painting and jack-o’-lantern carving.

And how about Ogunquit’s mighty costume parade, which musters both people and pooches in all their Halloween finery? Or the famous Gourd Race, in which for a mere five bucks you can purchase a racing gourd and send it bucking and wheeling down the Ogunquit River against a couple hundred or so competing fruits? Or the High Heel Dash, which sees high-heeled racers (those heels better be at least two inches!) square off at full, off-kilter blast around Perkins Cove? OgunquitFest doesn’t mess around when it comes to sheer spectacle, that’s for sure.

And if it’s Ogunquit souvenirs you seek, look no further than the festival’s Autumn Bazaar, which sees scores of local vendors set up along Ogunquit Beach to sell arts, crafts, and all sorts of other wares. It’s an ideal opportunity to get a jumpstart on that holiday shopping, for one thing.

Meantime, the Leavitt Theatre will bring the Maine Outdoor Film Festival to Ogunquit, ensuring some highbrow evening entertainment. (Check out the theater’s website to keep track of showings as OgunquitFest approaches.)

Throw in plenty of live music and loads of delicious food, and you’ve got a party that’s definitely worthy of a high-caliber New England autumn.

Don’t Forget Leaf-Peeping

Remember: OgunquitFest coincides with some pretty jaw-dropping displays of fall color in the Southern Maine woods. From Ogunquit’s street trees to the canopies of the surrounding countryside, combine the town-wide fiesta with some classic leaf-peeping!

Come join us at the Admiral’s Inn for the 13th annual OgunquitFest: It’s the best of fall served up on a platter!
