Ogunquit charms all year long: From the blossoms of spring and the beach days of summer to the blazing canopies and harvest festivals of autumn, it’s hard to pick a favorite season.
On a postcard-perfect winter’s day, we sometimes think this is our favorite time of year (and then the first postcard-perfect spring day hits…). If you only know Ogunquit in its best-known guise—as a summertime resort destination—we strongly urge you to check out what the town has to offer on this end of the calendar.
Open year-round, the Admiral’s Inn provides ideal headquarters for a winter visit to Ogunquit: We’ll give you a cozy and pampered home base while you enjoy the main drag, the seashore, and the surrounding countryside in all its seasonal glory.
Crowds? What Crowds?
More than a few Ogunquit visitors make winter getaways here a yearly tradition, but no question this is a much quieter tourism interval than peak summer season. That means more elbow room to take in the view from the Marginal Way, less waiting to get into one of the town’s celebrated seafood restaurants, and plenty of refreshing, soul-nourishing quiet along a lovely New England oceanfront.
Soaking Up the Scenery
The legendary Marginal Way—just a short walk from the Admiral’s Inn—serves up beauty to spare this time of year. Commune with the Gulf of Maine on this roughly mile-long paved footpath tracing our village’s waterfront between Ogunquit Beach and Perkins Cove.
If that gentle mosey has gotten your blood flowing and inspired a hunger for more winter loveliness, consider strapping on the cross-country skis or the snowshoes—or the hiking boots, if the snowpack happens to be lacking—and taking to the trails of the Wells Reserve, Mount Agamenticus, Harris Farm, or any of the other outdoor-recreation destinations in our immediate hinterland.
