Dog Friendly Spots in Ogunquit

Sunday, September 19th, 2021

We recently introduced several dog-friendly rooms in our Terraces building at The Admiral’s Inn so we thought it would be a great time to highlight some of the best dog-friendly spots in town!

Ogunquit Dog Park

Less than a 5 minute drive from The Admiral’s Inn is the Ogunquit Dog Park! The one acre dog park is fully fenced with double gates, and there is a separate section for small dogs.  There is quite a bit of shade, and a sunny area in front for cold winter days.

Ogunquit Beach

Ogunquit Beach is a beautiful 3 mile long sandy beach located just a 12 minute walk or short drive from The Admiral’s Inn. Dogs are allowed on the beach at any time from September 9 until March 31.

Mount Agamenticus

Mount Agamenticus is a 15 minute drive from the hotel and provides numerous walking trails and scenic views. Consisting of over 10,000 acres and 40 miles of trails, there’s plenty to explore.

Marginal Way

Marginal Way is a scenic coastal walk connecting the main Ogunquit village with Perkins Cove. The walk is just over a mile long with plenty of benches along the way to sit and admire the views. Dogs are allowed on Marginal Way from October 1 until March 31.

The Greenery Cafe

Serving breakfast and lunch, The Greenery Cafe is one of our favorite dog-friendly spots in Ogunquit. Stop in for delicious baked goods and hearty chicken pot pies & meatloaf sandwiches.

Northern Union

A lovely wine bar serving American dishes and tapas. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area where they feature a fire pit to keep everyone toasty on colder nights.

Cornerstone Artisanal Pizza

A pizza restaurant with a great craft beer selection in the village center. This spot is about a 7 minute walk from the hotel and dogs are allowed on their outdoor patio.

The Patio Bar at The Admiral’s Inn

You don’t have to travel far to find a fun dog-friendly cocktail bar! The Patio Bar at The Admiral’s Inn is open 7 nights a week serving cocktails, wine, beer, spirits & more. Plus, the large fire pit provides a cozy, toasty place to sit and enjoy an evening.

72 Hours in Ogunquit

Thursday, July 2nd, 2020

Looking for somewhere new to explore with plenty of options to get outside? You’ve found it!

Our location in Ogunquit gives you easy access to pools, beaches, hikes, cruises and more. Here’s a snapshot of how you can spend three nights at The Admiral’s Inn this summer.

Day 1

3.00pm Arrive & check-in

Check-in is in the lobby of our White Rose building. We’ve put up a brand new plexi-glass window over the front desk to keep you and our team safe as you check-in.

3.30pm Drop your bags and jump in the pool!

Choose from the family-friendly pool in the middle of the property or the quieter White Rose pool which is open for guests 16 and over.

5.00pm Head over to Marginal Way

Marginal Way is a beloved mile-long coastal walk connecting Ogunquit to Perkins Cove. Make sure to take your time along this incredible stroll, each turn provides another stunning view across the Atlantic Ocean.

6.00pm Grab some seafood in Perkins Cove

Many restaurants and shops have re-opened in this quaint coastal town so you’ll have your pick of places for dinner. If it’s your first time visiting, we recommend Barnacle Billy’s, an iconic seafood restaurant known for their lobster rolls and their famous rum punch.

8.00pm Wander back to the hotel

Ogunquit is a great walking town and it’s easy to get around. Wander back via Marginal Way to head back to the hotel and hang out around the fire pit or stop in town for some of the Maine coast’s best nightlife.

Day 2

8.00am Wake up and hike!

Mount Agamenticus is just a 15 minute drive from the hotel and it’s a great place to get in some early morning exercise. Opt for one of the more difficult trails starting near the base or drive up to the top and get straight to the sights while walking around the Big A, a one mile winding nature path at the summit of the mountain.

9.30am Time to grab breakfast

Amore Breakfast, a local gem, is located right on The Admiral’s Inn property. Order directly from their new take-out window and then grab a seat on the patio where they’ve recently added more tables, awnings and umbrellas. Their new take out menu still includes many of their classics – like lobster benedict, egg sandwiches, chocolate chip pancakes and bacon waffles.

10.30am Walk to the beach

Ogunquit Beach is just a 12 minute walk from The Admiral’s Inn so there’s no need to get in the car! The beach spans across 3.5 miles and has a number of different spots whether you want to swim, surf, float, walk or just sunbathe.

12.30pm Enjoy some lunch in town

Most restaurants have re-opened in town and plenty feature take-out options or outdoor seating. Grab an acai bowl from Loveshack Juicery or a specialty grilled cheese from The Beach Basket.

1.30pm Head back to the hotel

Freshen up and get ready for your next adventure!

2.30pm Time for some more fun outdoors

Spend more time at one of the on-site pools at the hotel or return to Perkins Cove and spend a few hours onboard a scenic cruise with FinestKind!

5.00pm Grab a drink outside

Continue soaking up the ocean views and treat yourself to a cold beverage after a day of exploring. We love sitting on the outdoor tables at Oarweed in Perkins Cove and sipping on a local beer.

6.30pm Decide where to eat for dinner

Stay in Perkins Cove for a meal or walk back into Ogunquit for the evening. If you’re after something casual and delicious, stop by Banditos Mexican Grill for dishes made with homemade tortillas and enjoy one (or two!) specialty margaritas.

8.00pm Don’t forget the ice cream

Sweet Pea’s Ice Cream in town has all the classics, as well as delicious specialty flavors like Blueberry Pie, Maine Black Bear and S’mores.

Day 3

8.00am Go to The Greenery Cafe for breakfast

Just a short drive from The Admiral’s Inn, or a 15 minute walk, is The Greenery Cafe. Start your day with one of their classics like Crab Saratoga: fluffy scrambled eggs mixed with cream cheese, scallions and fresh Jonah crabmeat, topped with an over easy egg and hollandaise and served with potatoes & toast.

10.00am Relax with a massage or spend time at the gym

On-site at The Admiral’s Inn we have a full gym and a licensed massage therapist offering relaxation massages, deep tissue massages and more. The gym is located on the lower floor of the White Rose building and is open daily. Michelle Low offers her services on the first floor of the White Rose building and is open Tuesday through Saturday by advance appointment. Check availability here.

12.00pm Head up to Kennebunkport for lunch

There are quite a few other small beachside towns to visit from Ogunquit, all within a quick drive from The Admiral’s Inn. Kennebunkport is about half an hour drive north and is a lovely place to spend a few hours walking along beaches, visiting local boutiques and enjoying locally made ice cream.

3.00pm Get back to the water

Spend the afternoon back at Ogunquit Beach splashing through the waves or swing past Liquid Dreams Surf Shop to rent a kayak, surfboard or stand up paddleboard for the afternoon.

6.00pm Walk over to Jonathan’s for dinner

Walk five minutes from The Admiral’s Inn and you’ll come across Jonathan’s. Serving farm to table food and featuring fresh New England products whenever possible, Jonathan’s has long been a staple in Ogunquit.

Day 4

8.00am Order coffee & breakfast treats

Stop by Backyard on your way to the beach and grab some breakfast goods. We love their iced coffee and their incredible cinnamon doughnut muffins.

8.30am Walk along Ogunquit Beach

The beaches are still not too crowded in the mornings and it’s so refreshing to walk alongside the waves. If the weather’s warming up you can always start your day with a dip in the ocean!

9.30am One last swim in the pool

Check-out is at 11am so you have time for one more swim! Or if you’re heading back to the beach, give us a call at the front desk and see if you can check-out but leave your car for a few extra hours so you don’t have to worry about the parking headache in town!

11.00am Say goodbye with plans to return

As you can see, there’s plenty to do in Ogunquit! Book your next stay with us before you leave and start planning your return trip!

Where to vacation with your family this summer

Monday, May 25th, 2020

Summer has arrived and Ogunquit is the perfect spot for a family-friendly vacation.

We’ve got everything you need at The Admiral’s Inn for lots of family together time to create lasting memories, from our two on-site pools and hot tubs, our close proximity to the beach & town and our caring, welcoming team.

We want to assure you we are committed to the highest standards of personalized service, safety and cleanliness at The Admiral’s Inn and are following the recommended protocols set by national, state and regional agencies (including CDC, American Hotel & Lodging Association, Hospitality Maine and the State of Maine).

Here are our top tips on how to make the most of your family vacation in Ogunquit:

Pick the perfect spot

The Admiral’s Inn is centrally located, making it a very accessible vantage point from which to explore all that beautiful Ogunquit has to offer. We are 500 yards from the center of town and a leisurely 12 minute walk to Ogunquit Beach. Our prime location provides plenty of opportunities for you and your family to spend time outdoors.

Splash around in the family friendly pool

Here at The Admiral’s Inn we have two on-site pools and hot tubs. Our larger family friendly pool is located in the middle of the property and our more intimate adults only pool is located behind the White Rose Building. Rooms in the Terraces building and The Carriage House are only steps from the family friendly pool which means you don’t have far to go when naptime comes around!

Spend the day by the seashore

Ogunquit Beach is one of New England’s most beautiful – and most family friendly – beaches and it’s just a 12 minute walk from The Admiral’s Inn. Spend the day splashing around on the sand bars, building sandcastles and soaking in the fresh ocean air.

Walk along the water

Marginal Way is one of the highlights of Ogunquit, a coastal walk just over a mile long between Ogunquit’s Main Street and Perkins Cove. There are 39 benches along the scenic coastal walk and little climbing making it an ideal place for an afternoon stroll.

Take advantage of delicious dining options

Starting on June 1, Ogunquit began allowing restaurants to have more outdoor seating which means you can enjoy a lovely alfresco meal (or two!) at a locally owned business during your visit. Many restaurants are also offering curbside pick-up and we will have plenty of places set up on The Admiral’s Inn property for you to enjoy your meal should you wish to stay on-site.

The Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce has also put together a helpful guide outlining the local restaurants now open in Ogunquit for summer: Restaurant Guide

Relax & grab a drink with your partner

Don’t forget to take some time for you too! Relax in the adults-only jacuzzi, take advantage of the on-site full gym or book one of our rooms with an outdoor sitting area (all rooms in the Terraces building & the Carriage House and select rooms in the White Rose building) and order in a cocktail from a local restaurant (our favorite is Barnacle Billy’s Rum Punch!) and enjoy the fresh ocean-side air in Ogunquit.

This idyllic beachside town is the perfect spot for you and your whole family this summer. Book now!
