Ogunquit Playhouse

Announcement May 01. 2020

From Bradford T. Kenney
Executive Artistic Director

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your patience as we navigated through these turbulent weeks due to the COVID19 pandemic, trying our best to present a 2020 season for you.
Unfortunately, after careful deliberation and budget re-forecasting, while keeping in mind the health and safety of our staff and all of you – and now, in light of the new state guidelines – we have come to the very difficult conclusion that we must cancel our extraordinary lineup of shows slated for our stage this season, with the hope of moving them to a future season. This is the first time our Playhouse has had to go dark since World War II.
Home to world-class theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse has an 88 year legacy of creating top-notch productions complete with professional casts and creative teams, and stars of screen and stage, hand-picked for each production.
Ogunquit Playhouse relies on ticket sales for 80% of its revenue. With our major source of income now gone, the Playhouse – your Playhouse – will incur financial damages well over 3 million dollars, despite drastic budget reductions. We are turning to you, to help keep us financially healthy and thriving in the wake of this global crisis.
All donations to our non-profit theatre are tax deductible. We know much is being asked of you today – but we need your help now more than ever before.”

We at the Admiral’s Inn, have our own storied history with the famed Ogunquit Playhouse.
During the 1930’s while in its first years of productions, the Admiral’s Inn became known as the Playhouse Inn as it housed the crew and stage members.
Years later the Playhouse Inn was purchased by the famed comedian Totie Fields, who summered in Ogunquit while performing at the Playhouse.

Today, the tradition continues! Our longstanding relationship with The Oguqnuit Playhouse is offered as a benefit to you with discounted tickets and
the ability to stay with us for just one evening, even in the peak summer when you buy your tickets with us.
Less than a 10 minute walk down Main Street, The Ogunquit Playhouse is entertainment at its finest.
